Something that is done to the participants in an experiment. Common examples are:
- In a concept test respondents are shown different concept boards and each of these concepts is a 'treatment'.
 - In a pricing experiment, the different levels of price shown to different respondents are the different treatments.
 - In a medical trials the patients (i.e., the units) may be exposed to one of the following five treatments: no medication, no medication with a placebo, 5mg, 10mg or 15mg of a medication.
