Reusing a Categorization

If you've done some categorizing on a particular variable, you can reuse the work you've done on a different variable (including in another document).

The category frame stores a set of rules which describe which code each text entry is assigned to. If you apply the category frame on different variable, any text which matches what has already been categorized will be automatically assigned. Any new responses can then be assigned into your pre-made set of categories.

How to save and reuse a category frame

In the categorizing window there are buttons to Import or Export the category frame. Exporting will save a file to your computer which has the extension .QCodes. If you want to use this category frame somewhere else, click the Import button and then select the .QCodes file that you have saved previously.
